Metaldehyde found in England drinking water sources

Between 2009 and 2011 concentrations of metaldehyde were found in 81 of 647 reservoirs, rivers and groundwater sources of drinking water. The chemical is almost impossible to remove from drinking water using standard treatments. It is used by farmers to protect crops from slugs.
